Process

We went through a complete product design process, aiming to create a great product without skipping any important steps.
01

Discovery and Research

Understanding potential users was crucial. We also conducted competitor research.
02

Platform flow and Wireframes

We designed a complete flow following competitors and the information we gathered from users.
03

Moodboard and Look & Feel

When searching for a visual brand, we compared competitor brands and aimed to create something entirely different that could catch attention.
04

Platform design

Once the visual brand was obtained, we designed the platform in a month with the idea of launching it quickly to the market.
05

User testing

To gather feedback and improve the tool as much as possible, we conducted interviews with waiters and restaurant owners.
06

Development

After corrections, the platform and landing page were developed to attract customers.

Research

Prior to starting the project, surveys were sent, and different restaurants were visited to ask potential users questions, from which the following results emerged.

Personnel management is crucial.

Many of the surveyed and interviewed individuals expressed the opinion that effective personnel management is crucial in a tool. Given the high turnover of staff, encountering issues is quite common.

Owners like to see metrics.

Owners of gastronomic establishments are highly attracted to metrics. This is with the goal of understanding how their establishment is performing, insights into their menu, and overall sales.

Simple design suitable for everyone

Simplicity was our primary focus. There was no room for uncertainty. About 70% of tools for gastronomic establishments usually have overly complex workflows that waitstaff struggle to comprehend. In many cases, owners had to hire external personnel solely to manage the software.

Users

Since the tool would have a general dashboard that could be used by owners and waiters, but at the same time would have a digital menu for placing orders and following orders from the end customer, it was crucial to differentiate them.
Guy owns a café with 2 years since its opening, he is 34 years old and was a barista for 8 years. Guy seeks practicality and wants to grow his business; at this point, he doesn't like to waste time on basic problems and managing his business.

Guy Hawkins

Owner
Jenny studies a design degree, already with 3 years into it. She has been working at Guy's café as a barista for 3 months and has 4 colleagues on her shift. Jenny doesn't care much about her job; she does it because she needs money to support her studies.

Jenny Wilson

Waiter
Theresa loves discovering new cafes, she is 25 years old and lives with her partner and her cat. She uses a lot of social media and is familiar with tools like Rappi. Waiting too long for an order frustrates her, and she dislikes not knowing when it will arrive at her table.

Branding

We aimed for a contrasting branding, creating a monochromatic color palette for use in the tool and added pink for the brand and social media. This was to keep the tool simple.

Mobile app

To complement the dashboard, we envisioned an application that functions as a digital menu but also allows users to make payments and track the status of their orders, providing an approximate delivery time to the table.

Website

We planned and designed a website specifically to showcase the product, which was implemented in Webflow. It maintained the overall design structure with a simple and pleasant design, highlighting the functionalities it offers.
